Las Isla del Sol, a leisure complex that would occupy an area of 100,000 square metres of land reclaimed by the sea, was to be the new star project in Fuengirola. However; a report in the environmental impact of the venture said it would have a negative effect on the beaches in Los Boliches. The project was then immediately removed from the new General Urban Plan which was provisionally approved last week. Despite the exclusion, the Town Hall is reluctant to give up on the project. “We’re not relinquishing La Isla del Sol, despite its withdrawal. We hope that it can become a reality in the future with some amendments,” said councillor Ana Mula.

- The Spanish property bust is dead, long live the recovery 03/15/2010The bust is dead, the Spanish property market’s recovery has begun! That’s how some leading daily papers like El Pais are interpreting the latest figures from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) showing the market grew ever so slightly in January. Well, I wouldn’t try to claim a vigorous recovery is underway, but there’s no [...]
- Properties and unpaid community fees 03/12/2010Many potential buyers know, or are informed by their lawyers, that you need to ask for a certificate to show that there are no debts attached to the property when buying a resale, to avoid getting landed with a bill for a backlog of owed community fees when they move in. This is the common [...]

Home owners in the urbanisation, which is located near the Mijas Costa/Marbella border, just north of the N340, have been waiting for over a decade to be granted the first occupancy licence, ‘licencia de primera ocupacíon.’ Last week a [...]
- Spanish housing review by RICS 03/04/2010The housing market downturn continued during 2009. There was some evidence that the decline might be bottoming out towards the end of the year, though the housing market and the wider economy still face substantial problems. So, it is by no means certain that the end of the housing market downturn has actually been reached. The [...]
